WAYGO

Cities are alive and dynamic, and for the most part, it is a mystery as to the inner workings and complex infrastructure that allow for daily operations.  Waygo is an interactive system, which allows for the transparency of cities.  It is a tool that uses real-time data, which gives the vitals of the city to those that are curious and want to learn more.  People using this smart device application can also use it to their advantage to adjust and maneuver through their ever changing environments, using Waygo as their guide.  It can be considered a "third eye".

A few of the features of this application are that it gives in depth information of public transportation, from buses to trains to bike share.  Estimated times of arrival, individual bus and train capacities, and bike share locations and availabilites are all included.  For motorists, easy to read and understand traffic infographics gives a driver an idea about what sections of the city to avoid.  It uses this traffic information and road condition reports when creating routes.  Real-time information about city energy consumption from electricity to water can also be viewed, as well as air quality monitoring.  Waygo is a dashboard which provides information about the inner workings and systems of cities, showing the interrelationships of the city's functions throughout the infrastructure.

A persona was created to give some focus to the project.  During the design process of Waygo I referenced this person as the target user.  Decisions were made based on his wants and needs.

User Mapping

Based on Mark, the persona I imagined would be using this application, I created a user map.  It is broken down into his daily tasks in relation to his daily city life, how he regularly feels, his daily influences, his pain points with NYC, and his overall goals when it comes to living in the "Big City".

Features

These are some of the early features that were thought about during the early development of the application.  The features I ended up creating are visual real time data on Transportation, Energy Usage, Traffic, Municipalities, Air Quality, and Conveniences.
